Field notes & small stories

Kiang Collective grew from our shared love for storytelling, wild landscapes, and the people who live closest to them. After years spent working in filmmaking, leading expeditions, and living extensively in the outdoors, we wanted to bring all of it together into work rooted in patience, real experiences, local communities, and a deeper connection to place.

We started working together on films and expeditions in Ladakh, and the Himalayas have held a deeply special place in our lives ever since. Kiang Collective came together in 2024, and our very first project was a snow leopard expedition there, hosted for a small group of wildlife enthusiasts. We now organise expeditions in different parts of the country, and have filmed across landscapes in India and internationally.

Today, our work moves between two things we care about equally. We make wildlife, conservation, and landscape-driven films for broadcasters, production houses, OTT platforms, brands, organisations, and independent clients looking for authentic field storytelling from remote environments. We also produce our own films. Alongside that, we lead small expeditions to similar kinds of places, built not around hurried tourism or guaranteed sightings, but around immersion, stillness, local perspectives, and time spent understanding the rhythms of a place.

At its heart, Kiang Collective exists to help people connect more deeply with the natural world, experience life alongside different communities, and encounter wildlife and landscapes the way they should be experienced. Whether through a film or an expedition, the work is, in the end, about one thing: bringing people closer to nature.

Panchami Gaitonde

Panchami Gaitonde

Co-Founder, Expedition Leader, Wildlife and Conservation Filmmaker

Before co-founding Kiang Collective, Panchami spent years in the trekking and outdoor education space within India, leading immersive journeys with a strong belief that some of the most meaningful learning happens outside conventional spaces, in mountains, water, forests, and wild landscapes. She has also worked on films across different landscapes in India and internationally, with broadcasters and production houses such as National Geographic and Terra Mater.

Her work is shaped by a deep connection to nature and a desire to tell stories that sit at the intersection of wildlife, conservation, landscapes, and people. At Kiang Collective, she focuses on direction, storytelling, field research, expedition design, and leading immersive wildlife journeys. Her approach is rooted in observation, stillness, and creating experiences that feel personal, thoughtful, and deeply connected to place.
